FCA Motor Finance Compensation Scheme – Policy Update - If you entered into a Hire Purchase (HP) agreement for a motor vehicle after 6 April 2007, your agreement may have included a commission arrangement between the dealer or broker and the finance provider. If so, and if your agreement meets the criteria set by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), you may be entitled to redress. December update on Commissions and important information for the FCA

On 3 December 2025, the FCA confirmed that the pause on lenders responding to complaints regarding motor finance commissions has been extended until 31 May 2026. This extension provides us with the necessary time to prepare our responses effectively, while ensuring that customers continue to receive fair and timely outcomes.

What you should know:

  • If you have already submitted a commission-related complaint, you do not need to take any further action. Your complaint will remain paused until 31 May 2026. Please note this date may change once the FCA publishes its final rules.
